Hide The Pain Harold realizes cause of strained face in antacid ad

Hide the Pain Harold (aka András Arató) is using his famous face to front a new ad for Brazilian antacid brand Eno.

In ‘Cara de Azia’ (‘Heartburn Face’), viewers see Arató emphasize that he always thought he had a normal face, but when it became a famous meme he desperately tried to change it to no avail.

One day, on the set of a modeling shoot as his alias ‘Harold,’ Arató notices one of the technicians is making a face similar to his own due to heartburn. In a lightbulb moment, he realizes that perhaps acid reflux has been the source of his strained face all these years.

The campaign was created by Publicis Leon. Creative directors Laura Azevedo and Ricardo Schreier said: “To have one of the biggest memes in the world in our campaign combines work and fun. The ’Cara de Azia’ campaign is not only a relief for Harold, but also for consumers. Talking about heartburn doesn’t have to be boring.”

It’s not the first time Hide The Pain Harold has popped up in an ad. Last month, The Drum spoke to the star himself about his life, work and how he really feels about being a meme.

Lovehoney produces how-to guide for turning off Google SafeSearch to access site

UK sexual wellness brand Lovehoney has created an instructional guide to raise awareness of how it can be hidden by Google’s SafeSearch. The SafeSearch feature, when turned on, prevents Google searches from returning ‘explicit’ results, but the brand argues this is being implemented inconsistently. For example, organic results and paid ads for the Lovehoney site – which contains actual sexual wellness advice – are blocked, while its products still show up on the sites of other retailers. As part of the awareness campaign, Lovehoney has unveiled an animated video guide with the aim to help those ‘suffering from SafeSearch’ (symptoms of which include suppressed sexual happiness). The guide walks consenting adults through the process of turning SafeSearch off, in turn showing them how to find Lovehoney without any issues. Lovehoney has also created an advice page with additional information on SafeSearch, as well as a step-by-step guide on switching it off. Lovehoney stated that it

Mercedes distances itself from environmental ads as it’s called out for greenwashing

Mercedes-Benz has claimed a campaign to promote its electric car range was not approved to run globally after it was pilloried and parodied by sustainability platform WhereFrom, which has accused the company of greenwashing. The campaign at the heart of the confusion (and controversy) was created by Leo Burnett Mexico. It consists of a series of posters featuring the Mercedes logo over close-up natural images and the slogan ’Nature or Nothing’. It quickly gained attention across social media and drew criticism for the claims of sustainability when Mercedes’s owner Daimler is currently facing legal action from climate groups in Germany over its environmental impact. Amid this backlash, sustainability-focused consumer review platform WhereFrom, in collaboration with the creative agency 10 Days, hijacked the campaign and replaced the original images with ones of fire, drought and famine. The copy was updated to read ’Climate change. It’s already here.’ However, the automake
